I reviewed the Harvard Medical School article "May a hazardous bacteria offer a new approach to mute pain?", which discusses a new study that reveals a toxin from the germ that causes anthrax can silence different types of pain in mice. The toxin targets pain-sensing cells, altering signals and blocking pain, according to researchers. “The research reveals that this specific anthrax toxin works to alter signaling in pain-sensing neurons and, when delivered in a targeted manner into neurons of the central and peripheral nervous system, can offer relief to animals in distress. The work, led by investigators at Harvard Medical School in collaboration with industry scientists and researchers from other institutions, is published Dec. 20 in Nature Neuroscience.” (Harvard Medical School).

The effect of this article on sceit is very big. This new research and findings could help animals and our veterinary purposes for the future.

This was a very well-written and arranged article. The author's use of facts and details about Anthrax drew my attention from the beginning sentence. “This molecular platform of using a bacterial toxin to deliver substances into neurons and modulate their function represents a new way to target pain-mediating neurons," said study senior investigator Isaac Chiu, associate professor of immunology in the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School.”An area of improvement for this article is there is a lot of information given, but where is this information leading to? Are researchers going to do things with this information to help better our society for animals?

The review of the article "Can a dangerous microbe offer a new way to silence pain? Was very well written which made it more enjoyable for the reader. In addition the author thoughtfully and concisely delivered their point without writing too extensively. This helps to keep the reader engaged. Finally the author brought light to the significance of the article in order to give the reader a purpose for viewing the article.

While this article was very well written it also had weaknesses. While the conciseness of the review was key for engaging the audience it was a little too short which left out valuable information for the reader. In addition it would’ve been useful to include a more thorough background to the article in order to help the reader better understand the topic and its significance.

Despite its weaknesses the review was still able to provide valuable information that has given me a new lens into the world of science. Each day I am realizing how influential science is to our everyday life, especially with the Coronavirus I learned how significant science is. Overall the author delivered a thought out review that provided valuable insight into new technologies.
