Collider Sets Record, and Europe Takes U.S.’s Lead

The Large Hadron Collider set a new record for the biggest physics machine in the world. The Hadron Collider is a machine that sends protons 1.2 trillion electron volts apiece and crashes them into other protons. The Hadron Collider is located underneath the countryside in Geneva, Switzerland. The Hadron Collider’s purpose is to recreate a mini-big bang. This would help us learn more about our universe. If the Hadron Collider doesn’t find anything, all the work on it and the whole ideas that scientists thought could have come out of it would have been a waste of time.

    Chemistry Review

Michael Moores article, Collider Sets Record, and Europe Takes U.S.’s Lead, was very interesting. One thing that Michael could have done to improve his review, is he could have explained more about what the machine is used for. Also he could have given more details about the machine, like when it was made, who made it and how it would help us learn more about the universe. Lastly, he could have given more back around information about the machine and its uses. One thing that Michael did well in his review was explaining how the machine is used. Also he did not use complicated words that are hard to understand, so that the reader could easily read his review. One thing I learned was that the Large Hadron Collider set a new record for the biggest physics machine in the world.

  2. I like how Michael explained what exactly a Hadron Collider is and what it does. I also think it was good of him to state the location of this spectacular machine. Since the Hadron Collider is a record breaking device, it would be helpful to know where it is. Finally, I think Michael did a good job explaining what scientists hope the Collider can do.
One thing Michael could have dont was make his summary a bit longer. He only gave a summary of the article which I thought was good but he could have mentioned a little more, like some names of scientists who worked on building the Collider and saying what he liked about the article. Another thing that Michael should've done was talk about the U.S. The title of the article says that now Europe beat the U.S's record so that must mean that the U.S is somewhat significant to the article. Because of that, Michael should have mentioned the U.S.
I personally liked the article. I have never heard of a Hadron Collider, but I found it quite fascinating.

  3. In this presentation of the article michael moore told us first who Hadron Collider is and what his job is. This is very important i feel especially for people our age because to listen to the presentation we must know the topic of the presentation. He also states the importance of the machine he invented and its claim to fame. Lastly he gives a vague description of how it operates. One thing he could have done is elaborate on how it operates and also could he said how it is used. This in all was interesting current event to hear.

  4. Astronomers recently reported that there could be as many as 40 billion planets that are around the same size as earth and could potentially be habitable. This information came through by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft. Astronomers believe that there is a habitable zone in the universe where they have found these planets orbiting the sun.

This discovery has been a huge leap in the understanding of our universe and how our world came to be. People have heard in the past that there might be a chance that there might be extra terrestrials in the universe. With this discovery, our suspicions could become true.

The article that I read was factual and to the point. They had an amazing interactive “game” in which you could “explore” the new planets based on what they know already, which I found interesting. Overall the article was a good read.
