For many years, acid rain has basically been polluting the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Many scientists have been paying close attention to this problem. They noticed that all of the acid rain has been excessively polluting the mountains and killing many different species. The water in rivers and lakes of the Adirondack Mountains have become so polluted that wildlife cannot survive in them any longer. The federal report which was prepared by The National Acidic Precipitation Assessment said that the acid rain problem isn't only in the Adirondacks but throughout Colorado as well. A democrat and former Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan proposed a bill that would reduce emissions of sulfur and nitrogen from the air which didn't turn out to be very popular in Congress. It was however popular in New York and environmentalists supported the bill and said that the federal report would convince people that the bill is important. Utility companies have been threatened by trying to increase pollution and acid rain levels because they have been producing larger amounts of nitrogen and sulfur which has been a huge cause of acid rain.
Acid rain is considered poison. This article is important because it makes readers aware of the dangers of acid rain. It is important because it shows what harm acid rain can do to a big region of mountains. Acid rain pollutes the area and it is kills plants and animals so it is critical that the problem of acid rain is taken care of. The more people read this article the more people will notice this issue.
I enjoyed this article overall. It grabbed my attention as soon as I began to read it. I honestly did think that it was a bit short. On the other hand it still conveyed the message. The message that it sends is very significant which is why it is a good article. I was informed of the harm that acid rain can do to wildlife and what it does to a large area.

  1. One of the main things I liked about this article was how Nick thoroughly explained how the the Adirondacks are being threatened by acid rain. Secondly, I like the way Nick discused how acid rain pollutes the area and kills plants. I also liked his reference to politics and its influence on this problem. However, one thing that could be improved is a clearer understanding of what the government has done to fix this problem. Also, I would like to know what Nick's opinion is of this situation and his thoughts on improving it.
Finally, I learned that acid rain affects more than the adirondacks; it is a problem in Colorado as well. I would like to know why acid rain is not a problem in other parts of the country.

  3. 3) I liked the way Nick stated the problem. The problem was acid rain in the Adirondack Mountains. He began to explain how the effects of the acid rain is affecting the environment. This is the wildlife is being killed. Finally, you explain how this is being solved. This is by Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan proposed a bill to reduce emissions of sulfur and nitrogen. Environmentalists support the bill, because nitrogen and sulfur are the majority of acid rain.
    2) Nick can elaborate on some things. For example, how the acid rain kills the animals and how the acid rain kills the animals and how the water in rivers are being polluted. Also it would be nice if to explain why the proposed bill is popular in New York. Why is it more popular in the industrial state of New York and possibly not Vermont or Connecticut. Also where does the sulfur and nitrogen come from. Is it the utility companies or everyday uses. For example, from me watching tv or turning on a stove.
    1) I was suprised on the topic of acid rain. Before your review, I was ignorant of acid rain. This may because, it is a dated topic, but may still be a problem. I will look this up, because acid rain seems deadly and could if not stopped destroy all nature.

  4. One of the many things Nick presented well in his presentation was the most important information. He thoroughly explained the issue at hand and what can be done to solve it. Another thing he did well was leaving the audience with few questions, telling us the main points of his article. Lastly, he not only told us about how it pollutes the air, but he connected it to politics and the rest of the world.
To improve the presentation, a few things could have been explained more. Such as, where these gases are coming from. Secondly, he could have made his presentation a little longer giving us more information on the article and perhaps his opinion on the situation.
One of the many things I learned was that acid rain pollutes the air. Before this, I had no idea that this was a major problem. I thought it just took place but now I know what an issue it is causing in the Adirondack mountains and not only there but in Colorado as well.

  5. I was interested in Nick's article. Nick explained the problem very well. He gave detail on the problem and elaborated on the topic. Also, he gave examples from the acid rain.

Nick was sometimes vague and could've said more on how the wildlife dies from acid rain. And, he could've explained more on how acid rain happens.

Since I am interested in this topic, I will research more on how could the acid rain affect us in the future.

  6. Nick presented this article well in the way that he gave a details to how acid rain is affecting New York specifically the Adirondack mountains. He also mentioned that certain animal species were being threatened by acid rain. Lastly he added which was big in this article the affect politics had on the solution to acid rain. Nick unfortunately did not mention which plants or animal species were affected by this. Also he could have picked an article more updated so we could see if there was any new approach to solving this problem. Again i am interested in this topic because it relates to the environment something we must take more serious as it becomes more poorly affected.

  7. I think that Nick presented his article very well. I liked how he explained where the article was talking about, and the harmful effects it has on its environment in his presentation. In the written article review, I liked how detailed Nick was. He explained how congress and environmentalists disagreed about the bill proposed by a senator very well. Lastly, I agree with Nick that the dangers of acid rain are very high, and he conveyed that message very well.
In Nick’s last paragraph, in which he critiques his article, he said that he “felt more informed”. However after reading his review, I didn’t feel informed on the same things he said he did. So maybe he could explain specific points in the article better. He could also improve on explaining what exactly acid rain is. As that is what the article was about, I feel it would be helpful if he were to explain it so that the reader of his review knows just what he’s talking about.
I would like to know more about how acid rain affects other regions or parts of the country.

  8. In his review Nick exposed me to the threat of acid rain on the Adirondack mountains. From this I was able to learn what acid rain was doing to these mountains. Also, I thought that it was great the way he said what was causing the acid rain.
In his article he could have explained what the bill was that the senator was trying to pass. He also could have elaborated on what acid rain was.
The article was very well written and from it the affects of pollution were shown to me.

  9. I felt that nick adresess this article greatly. He picked a topic and explained what it was about very well. I know alot more about the adirondack mountains now than before i read this. I will also point out that nick explains the main problem of the article well, acid rain in the adirondack mountains. Though nick had had his acheivements he also had his flaws. After readin the article i had known about the mountains more but not enough. I felt as if there should have been more detail about the subject in his blog. He also could have elaborated more on what acid rain is and what it could potentially do to the mountains better. In all i thought that this article was fairly well written and grabbed my attention about another problem threatening our world.
