World's First Robot-Staffed Hotel to Open in Japan - Zach Zucker

World's First Robot-Staffed Hotel to Open in Japan

What if as you checked in to a hotel, everything was down for you by robots? Well, a hotel that is part of a theme park in Nagasaki, Japan has just this. The staff of the hotel is all robots. The name of the hotel is Henn na which even means "strange hotel". The robots will work as reception attendants, waiters, and even cleaning staff. These robots take the form of young Japanese women that will be able to speak Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and English. They will be able to mimic hand gestures and even eye movements. As well as robots, guests will also be able to access their room by face resignation software. "We'd like to draw visitors to this setting surrounded by nature by establishing a smart hotel, which could be something we could spread through Japan and the world."

This can be helpful to humanity but also hurtful. This is helpful because robots will not get tired doing these jobs. They will never be in a negative mood and can most likely carry and size of suitcase. Although, this can be hurtful to humanity because this is taking away many jobs from people who are working at hotels. Also, the price for making the robots would be expensive

I think this article was very fact filled and interesting to see that this could happen in the near future. It is also scary because these could have been our future jobs. I would like to learn more about this topic and learn about the mechanics of these robots

  1. Zach reviewed an article about the first robot hotel and the potential in the that field. Starting his review with a question intrigued the reader and made his review more interesting. I also liked how zach included a quote from an expert on the situation. Zach also included a concession and refusion. Although Zach had a very good review, he could have included some more details about what he thought of the article. Also, his article would have been much easier to read if the spacing and font size were all the same. Overall, Zach introduced an interesting topic and I really enjoyed his review.

I reviewed Zach’s critique of the article “World’s First Robot-Staffed Hotel to Open in Japan.” It was very interesting to read and to find out how far along we are in technology. Zach did a good job explaining about the hotel and what these robots are able to do such as speak four languages and recognize hand signals. It’s interesting since having robots have been talked a lot about in the past, and now it is actually possible. Zach did a good job on identifying the pros and cons of having these robots as staff members in hotels. In the article, it mentioned how the cost of living in the hotel is less but it also takes away jobs from humans and unemployment has always been a big issue. One thing I though the article could have talked more about was if there was any sort of trial to see how well this “smart” hotel would work and more quotes from the makers of the robots would help strengthen the article. Overall it was very cool and I would be interested to know how well this hotel will operate.
